The Juniper Networks Session Smart Router (SSR) SSR1300 powers Juniper’s AI-native SD-WAN solution, delivering exceptional user experiences through an application-aware, Zero Trust secure network fabric. Designed for medium data centers and campuses, it offers 20 Gbps maximum unencrypted throughput on NICs. The SSR1300 features a tunnel-free architecture using Secure Vector Routing (SVR) for improved performance, scalability to thousands of sites, and inherent security.
It supports flexible deployments on customer premises equipment (CPE), data centers, and cloud, with native integration for SD-WAN, SD-Branch, multicloud, and IoT use cases.
Architecture & Performance
The SSR1300 combines a service-centric control plane and session-aware data plane for IP routing, policy management, visibility, and analytics. Key capabilities include hypersegmentation for Zero Trust security, integrated NGFW (Layer 3/4), IDS/IPS, URL filtering, and antivirus via Advanced Security Pack.
Performance: Max unencrypted throughput of 20 Gbps. Supports Ethernet interfaces, LTE (Dual LTE, Dual SIM), T1. Runs on bare metal x86 appliances.
Security Features
Service-centric tenant-based security, deny-by-default Zero Trust, distributed stateful firewall, ICSA-certified network firewall, and AI-native management with Marvis for policy orchestration and threat intelligence.
Management
Centralized via Session Smart Conductor (on-premises/cloud) or Mist WAN Assurance for full lifecycle operations, ZTP, AI insights, anomaly detection, and automated troubleshooting.
