The series provides comprehensive Layer 2 VPN (L2VPN) and Layer 3 VPN (L3VPN) services in a compact package, enabling Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS)-based VPN services from the access layer. Key Carrier Ethernet features simplify network operations for premium services with enhanced SLAs.

Low-port-density models include ASR-920-12CZ-A, ASR-920-12CZ-D, ASR-920-4SZ-A, and ASR-920-4SZ-D. The routers support broadband access for voice, video, data, and mobility with scalable QoS, up to a large number of queues per device using a three-level hierarchical QoS algorithm for enhanced user experience. Full-featured Layer 2 switch and Layer 3 router capabilities extend the Cisco Evolved Programmable Network (EPN) architecture, supporting IPTV and video on demand (VoD).
