The Cisco FLSASR1-LI is the Lawful Intercept License specifically designed for the Cisco ASR 1000 Series Aggregation Services Routers. This license enables lawful intercept capabilities, allowing service providers and enterprises to meet regulatory requirements for intercepting communications while maintaining high-performance network operations.
ASR 1000 Series Fixed Ethernet Line Cards Overview
The Cisco ASR 1000 Series Fixed Ethernet Line Cards (ASR1000-2T+20X1GE and ASR1000-6TGE) are fixed port Ethernet line cards capable of 40-Gbps full-duplex traffic forwarding using a fixed-port interface design. The ASR1000-2T+20X1GE features twenty 1 Gigabit Ethernet ports and two 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports. The ASR1000-6TGE provides six 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports. Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) and 10-Gbps SFP (XFP) modules allow configuration for different media types (copper or fiber) and optical requirements (single- or multimode fiber). Each line card includes one power LED, one line-card status LED, and 22 port or link-status LEDs.
These line cards enable greater Ethernet density and lower price per port on ASR 1000 Series routers. They occupy the slot of the SPA interface processor and are not compatible with Shared Port Adapters (SPAs).
Modular Interface Processor
The Cisco ASR 1000 Series Modular Interface Processor (ASR1000-MIP100) is a full-duplex 100-Gbps modular Ethernet line card hosting up to two Cisco ASR 1000 Series Ethernet Port Adapters (EPAs). EPAs introduce 40 Gigabit Ethernet and 100 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, offering feature parity with SPA interface processors and SPAs. Available EPAs include 1-port 100 Gigabit Ethernet (QSFP), 1-port 100GE, 10-port 10GE, 18-port 1GE, 1-port 40GE (with optional license for second port), 2-port 40GE (Native QSFP), and 2-port 40GE (breakout cable).
Key Capabilities
- Rich Ethernet Layer 2, Layer 3, IP, IPv6, and Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) packet-processing capabilities.
- Rich Quality-of-Service (QoS) functions: Ingress and egress QoS, egress queuing capability, high- and low-priority lanes to Embedded Services Processors for low-latency forwarding.
- The 18-port 1 Gigabit Ethernet port adapter, 10-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet port adapter, 2-port 40 Gigabit Ethernet port adapter, and 1-port 40 Gigabit Ethernet port adapter are hardware-ready for MACsec.
SPA, Fixed Line Cards, and Modular Interface Processor Comparison
Unlike SPA Interface Processors, fixed Ethernet line cards have built-in Ethernet ports but do not support SPAs. Modular Interface Processors support EPAs but not SPAs or built-in ports.
Compatible Hardware
Fixed Ethernet Line Cards (ASR1000-6TGE and ASR1000-2T+20X1GE) are compatible with chassis including ASR1004, ASR1006, ASR1006-X, ASR1009-X, ASR1013; Route Processors ASR1000-RP2, ASR1000-RP3; and Embedded Services Processors ASR1000-ESP40 (up to 4 cards on ASR1013), ASR1000-ESP100, ASR1000-ESP200, ASR1000-ESP100-X, ASR1000-ESP200-X.
The ASR1000-MIP100 Modular Interface Processor supports specific EPAs and is compatible with ASR1006-X, ASR1009-X, ASR1013 chassis; ASR1000-RP2, ASR1000-RP3; and ASR1000-ESP100, ESP200, ESP100-X, ESP200-X.
Software Requirements
Minimum Cisco IOS XE Software versions are required for line cards and EPAs. For example, ASR1000-6TGE requires XE 3.12, ASR1000-2T+20X1GE requires XE 3.10, ASR1000-MIP100 requires XE 3.16.1 or 16.2.1. Specific EPAs have platform-dependent minimum versions, such as EPA-1X100GE on ASR1000-MIP100 requires XE 3.16.1 / 16.2.1. MACsec support varies by port adapter and platform, with minimum versions like XE 16.3.1 for EPA-10X10GE on ASR1000-MIP100.
MACsec Features
Certain ports and adapters support MACsec with appropriate licenses and software versions. Refer to detailed tables for per-platform support.
